“What man does not know, Or has not thought of, wanders in the night through the labyrinth of the mind.”—Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Some believe the labyrinth is a metaphor for our lives since a labyrinth is not a maze but a path with twists and turns. Sometimes you think that you have reached the center but the path doubles back and you discover you have to go further. It is not a dead end; it’s a new route!
Sacred geometry is used to create a labyrinth and some believe that it is part of the magic. Others believe that simply being able to just let go and follow the path is the magic.
As I admired our stone labyrinth in Rangeley, Maine, I had an additional metaphor. When looking at the labyrinth at ground level when sitting, it looks like a sea of rocks with no pattern. Just a rock heap. But when you stand and rise, the pattern of the labyrinth emerges and you see a beautiful path before you. The pattern makes sense because you are able to see and understand how it fits together. Are you looking for some clarity in your life? Find a labyrinth near you and take a walk to see what new routes you discover.
