I recently listened to an interview with Paul McCartney where he talked about the Beatles’ introduction to transcendental meditation in 1967 with the Indian sage Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. McCartney talked about the fact that at that point in the band’s history, they were living amid the hyperactive London “scene,” which he said was “very wearing, tiring and never stopped.”
When they visited India for a retreat with Maharishi Yogi, McCartney recalled that “It was like a breath of fresh air, because instead of just getting crazy, this was the opposite. It was getting uncrazy. It was a very calming experience. You were finding the calmness inside yourself.”
So if you won’t take it from me, take it from Sir Paul! Meditation works! In fact, McCartney said he still meditates.
