I love fall. I love the vivid colors, the sound of dried leaves crunching under my feet, the smell of fireplaces being awakened, the feel of my favorite warm sweater. I love it all.
But as much as I love it, I’ll admit that I don’t always allow myself to ENJOY it. I get caught up in my “to-do” list and running from one appointment to the next. There are times when I need to ground myself in the moment so I can truly savor all the sensory joys of fall.
What do you love? Do you ground yourself in the joy of soaking it up? Here’s a way to help you do that:
- Place one hand on your heart and one hand on your stomach.
- Plant your feet firmly on the ground.
- Take a slow, deep breath in and then breathe out every last drop of air making sure that the exhale is slower than your inhale.
- Repeat until you feel grounded in the present moment.
There is no better way to alleviate anxiety than to ground ourselves in what brings us peace and joy. That’s what meditation helps us do.
