I’m always touting the benefits of meditation and the “hidden powers” of our mind, but here is a study that I just discovered and it’s wild!
Researchers at Ohio University discovered that simply imagining exercising could be a valuable tool to prevent or slow muscles from becoming weaker when a health problem limits or restricts a person’s mobility. Now that doesn’t mean we can just eat what we want when we want and expect that simply imagining doing pushups will eliminate those calories, but it does demonstrate that when presented with a challenge—in this case, limited mobility—it can be a case of mind over matter.
If that doesn’t support the power of mindfulness to impact the way we approach challenges we face, I don’t know what does. Meditation has been proven time and time again to be a powerful tool in helping us focus our minds and our energies to improve our mental wellness…and now we have proof of its power to help us support our physical wellbeing, too.
